Democrats Release Draft of 2024 Party Platform

New Platform Features Historic Changes

Every four years, Democrats from across the country come together to craft the party's platform. This year, the draft platform released by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) includes some historic changes. The platform is generally based on modern liberalism and contrasts with the conservatism of the Republican Party.

The 2020 platform was considered by the 2020 Platform Committee at its meeting on July 27, 2020, and was approved by the DNC. The 2024 platform was released on February 14, 2023, and is open for public comment until March 15, 2023. The final platform will be adopted at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.

Some of the key changes in the 2024 draft platform include:

  • A call for a single-payer healthcare system
  • A Green New Deal to address climate change
  • A path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants
  • A ban on assault weapons
  • A $15 minimum wage

The DNC is seeking public comment on the draft platform until March 15, 2023. The final platform will be adopted at the 2024 Democratic National Convention.
